Andhra University may open foreign campus

Andhra University has earned the opportunity to potentially open a foreign campus after receiving an impressive 3.74 CGPA grade and NAAC A++ ranking.

The premier university’s remarkable achievement of the highest NAAC ranking is a historic moment in its 98 year legacy according to Vice Chancellor Prof P V G D Prasad Reddy. He stated that Andhra University has attained a rare accomplishment matched by only a few other universities in India with its 3.74 score.

As one of the foremost universities in the country, Andhra University already has over 1,000 international students enrolled in various programs at its main campus in Visakhapatnam, primarily from developing nations.

Prof Reddy explained that the NAAC’s esteemed ranking, valid for the next seven years, has made Andhra University eligible to apply for the prestigious Institute of Eminence status. He added that this will also open up the prospect of establishing an international campus.

The VC highlighted that the ranking will be advantageous for obtaining research funding and attracting more overseas students. He credited the CM’s prioritization of chair professors, now numbering 16 across prominent institutions, for impressing the NAAC committee.

The NAAC panel thoroughly evaluated seven criteria – curriculum, teaching-learning, research, student services, infrastructure, leadership and best practices. They particularly appreciated the green chemistry curriculum for engineering students. Weightage was given to opportunities for internships, placements, accommodation and higher education guidance.

Prof Reddy summarized that the NAAC recognition is a testament to Andhra University’s excellence as an institute and will facilitate further growth and global expansion.
